Children information
If a minor is accompanied by an adult with a different family name, proper documentary evidence of relationship (next of kin or legal custody) or permission of the parent(s) is required. In situations where a minor child is travelling unaccompanied or together with a parent of a different last name, required documentary evidence (notarised consent, birth certificate, personal identification card, student ID etc.) must be presented by the minor's parent or adult guardian either when purchasing the ticket or at the beginning of travel.
Travelling with an infant
Infant tickets may be purchased for our flights for children under 2 years of age. In such cases, babies do not occupy separate seats and are required to travel in a guardian's lap.
A guardian may travel only with one baby at a time without having to make multiple seat reservations. When travelling with more than one infant, passengers are required to purchase children's ticket(s), which provide separate seating. When travelling with an infant on a separate seat, the guardian must ensure that a CE- or FAA-certified baby seat is used.
Upon request, we are happy to provide baby food to passengers on all of our flights. Such requests must be submitted upon check-in.
Travelling with a child
Some of our fares are eligible for children's discounts. These can be offered to children who, at the beginning of travel, have reached their second birthday and, by the last leg of travel, have not turned 12 years old.
If you would like to purchase a children's menu for your child, you are kindly asked to let our colleagues at the Malév Service Centre know about this when purchasing the ticket, but no less than 24 hours prior to departure.
The service „Unaccompanied Minor" (UM) may be requested at our airline for minors between 2 and 16 years of age travelling unaccompanied by a passenger of at least 16 years of age. The unaccompanied minor service will ensure that your child is boarded onto the aircraft, introduced to the flight attendant, chaperoned during connections and turned over to the appropriate person, designated int he UM documentation, upon arrival at their final destination.

Pets` information
Can I take animal onboard, or I have to transport it as checked baggage?
Animals, solely dogs and cats, may be transported on board in accordance with IATA (International Air Transport Association) regulations, with Malev's prior consent, by paying the applicable excess weight fee. Requests regarding animal transportation have to be presented at booking. No animals can be transported on board of flights longer than 4 hours and on certain types of aircraft. Because of animal health regulation, to Ireland and England, animals can only be transported as cargo
In all cases, kennels for the animals and the necessary documents must be supplied by passengers.
Only small-size dogs and cats, of a total size and weight not exceeding the size and weight limits defined by the tariff regulations, including the kennel and the animal food, may be transported on board.
The above restrictions do not apply to service dogs assisting travelers with visual and hearing disabilities, disaster search, and rescue dogs.
One passenger may transport a maximum of two animals onboard as excess weight; any additional animal that the passenger wishes to bring may be transported as air cargo.
