Children information

Children up to 2 years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. You must, however, inform Midwest Airlines that you will be traveling with an infant on your lap.
Only one lap child is allowed per adult. If one adult is traveling with more than one infant under 2 years of age, a seat will have to be purchased for each additional infant.
You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device. Midwest Airlines offers these seats at a 50% discounted fare.
You have to purchase ticket for any flight on which the infant will be over 2 years old or turns 2 on the trip.

Child Restraint Devices
Midwest Airlines requirements for a child restraint device:
- Make sure your car seat is government approved and has "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" printed on it. Otherwise, you may be asked to check the car seat as baggage.
- Make sure a harness-type restraint is approved and has "FAA Approved in Accordance with 14CFR - 305(d), Approved for Aircraft Use Only" on it. The Amsafe Cares device is acceptable. For additional details, visit FAA's press release on this matter.
- It is now acceptable to use a two-piece car seat (base with carrier) on board provided it carries the appropriate DOT or FAA approval statement. The seat must have slots for securing the device to the aircraft seat with a seat belt (bases may be used if the slots are part of the base itself).

Unacceptable Child Restraint Devices:
- Any damaged or unlabeled device.
- Any device manufactured prior to January 1, 1981 where the model number cannot be identified.
- Any travel vest or harness that attaches to the adult or the adult's restraint device.
- Any booster seat even though it bears a label showing it meets applicable standards.
