Airlines have found plenty of ways to add fees in the last year – charging for everything from blankets to baggage. Now, Continental has created another way to add revenue through options by way of legroom.

The airline isn’t the first to do this – JetBlue and AirTran Airways have done the same thing.

Starting March 17, you can buy a seat on a Continental flight in the exit row and get seven more inches of space. Those who have frequent flier advantages (at least 25,000 miles a year) can get those seats with no extra cost. Representatives from Continental say that the move has to do with customers wanting more choices, and that seat with more legroom come at a higher value.

Travelers can select the option when they check-in online up to 24 hours before the flight departs. Costs for the extra legroom will vary, sometimes being a high as $60. From time to time there will be discounts, such as holiday periods.

Currently, US Airways offers choice seats which range from $5-$30, and Virgin America has a section with more legroom called the Main Cabin Select.
