Book Monday through Thursday - this old rule is still valid. For travel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday airlines do charge $30 per direction. Brutish Airways is charging $30 per direction for travel on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday night stay over - this rule is true for domestic and international flights. Let say you leave on Monday and you want to be back on Friday. It will be a huge saving if you fly back on Sunday. Very rare you will see reasonable fares without having Saturday night in you trip. If your plans cannot be changed and you have to come back before Saturday - then check the one-way fares.
