There is one european country that is synonym to wealth, traditions and nature. Switzerland provides all the three and many more. Located between Germany, Italy and France, the small country has features of all its neighbors. If you don’t know which one of the three major european countries to visit, try with Switzerland – it’s like the three of them at once.

Most of the people, when thinking of vacation and Switzerland, think of the Alps. Some other think of the culture centers of Geneva, Zurich, Basel and Lausanne, the chocolate and the Tyrolean songs, the swiss knife and on and on. Yes, that is so, but if you want to spend some time in the country, try to think beyond. There are a lot more places to see and things to do in Switzerland.

This is a country with very long and interesting history. Stroll around the medieval Old Town of Bern, the frescoes of Mustair, the medieval abbey of St. Gallen, the Basel Cathedral, Monte San Giorgio and Lavaux. You cannot miss some of the winter resorts – St. Moritz, Zermatt or Verbier. Don’t miss the Alps in the summer, even if you’re not an alpinist, the Geneva Lake and the Swiss National Park. If you like music, visit the Montreaux jazz festival. The list is endless. If you get tired, try the local kitchen and wines. Visit museums and theaters or just take a walk in any city you get in. Switzerland has a great culture and you’ll get charmed.

There is no best time for visiting the country. It depends mainly on what you want to do when you get there. Choose the summer and the big cities or the snowy winter and the high slopes of the Alps. The summer peak period is July and August, when prices are high, accommodation often fully booked and the sights packed. You'll find better deals, and fewer people in April, May and October. The winter season in Alpine resorts kicks off in mid-December and ends in April.
