Children information

Travelling with an infant
Up to the 2nd birthday, infants usually pay 10% of the applicable and available air fare, in addition to fuel surcharges, airport fees and overheads. This includes booking, ticketing and handling fees. However, they are not entitled to a seat of their own - infants sit in their parents' lap.

On long-haul flights and Business Class flights within Europe, SWISS provide you with a special travel cot on request. This is a limited offer, and for safety reasons is only available for children up to the age of eight months and a maximum weight of 11 kg. Please ask for more details.

Swiss service fee: For bookings made in Switzerland for children between 2 and 11 years of age, we charge 50% of the service fee on tickets with a child discount. Fares without specific child discount are subject to the normal Swiss service fee. The service fee is lower for online bookings. The service fee is not applicable for infants between 0 and 2 years of age.

Baby seat / car seat for infants
Book a child’s fare for your infant between 0 and 2 years of age. Place your car seat on the booked seat - ensure comfort for your child and for yourself.

Folding buggy/pushchair
Please ask at check-in whether your folding buggy (folds down to about the size of an umbrella) can be taken up to the aircraft. Depending on your destination, you will receive your buggy either when you leave the aircraft or when you get to baggage collection.
There is no charge for the transportation of folding buggies and pushchairs.

The following items are allowed on board
- 1 baby carrier or 1 collapsible pram (in the freight compartment) or 1 car seat
  - baby food for use on board

Pets

Pets into the cabin
Dogs and cats are allowed in the cabin
Animals with protection or assistance functions, e.g. guide dogs for persons with impaired vision.

- Does not disturb passengers.
- Weighs no more than 8 kg, including travel box.

- The container size must be no greater than a standard piece of carry-on baggage (55cmx40cmx20cm)
- The container remains stowed away under your seat for the duration of the entire fligh
Note: Due to the structure of the seats, it is not possible to stow away the pet under your seat in the First and Business Class sections of the Airbus 330/340. In this case, the container can be placed in the wardrobe, baggage compartment or maybe under a seat in the Economy Class for take-off and landing.

Pets in the cargo
In as suitable container, your pet can travel safely in the cargo section of the aircraft. Temperature and air pressure are similar to the situation in the cabin. At SWISS, you check in together with your pet.

The following countries do not allow animals to be transported in the cabin nor checked-in as “luggage”: Ireland, the UK, Kenya, South Africa, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
Animals travelling to these countries may only be checked in as freight.  For more information regarding the booking, costs and procedures for this service, contact Swiss WorldCargo as early as possible on +41 44 564 54 54.
