Various airlines offer flights to Bulgaria. Bulgaria is a small country with only four international airports, situated in the four biggest cities of the country – Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Bourgas. Here is more information about the individual flight deals and routes.

The easiest way to fly to Bulgaria from the USA is to look around for some cheap flights to one of the main cities in Western Europe and after that to fly to Sofia – the country’s capital and main gate for foreign visitors.

There are no direct cheap flights to Bulgaria from the USA, however there are many flights connecting through various European cities, including London, Munich, Milan and Amsterdam. Lufthansa flies from Chicago, New York, Boston and Washington DC connecting through Munich and Milan, and British Airways also offer flights from Miami, Seattle and Los Angeles through London, while KLM flies from Minneapolis via Amsterdam. Direct cheap flights to Bulgaria from the UK are offered by British Airways, Bulgaria Air and low cost carriers Easyjet and Hemus Air. British Airways flies daily from London Heathrow to Sofia, while Bulgaria Air has several flights a week from Gatwick to Sofia and Varna, and from Manchester direct to Varna.

Bulgaria rapidly develops its tourist resorts, so in the winter and the summer seasons you may not find a flight, unless you book one in advance. However, there are not so many tourists flying to Bulgaria for the holidays as opposed to Greece and Turkey, so you’ll be able to find a deal relatively easy.
