International airports in Croatia

Croatia has eight main airports that can accept international and national flights. They are located at Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Pula, Osijek and Brac. Just five of them are available and serve international flights. The main international airport in Croatia is the Zagreb Airport. The airports at Rijeka, Split, Zadar and Dubrovnik serve international flights mainly during the summer season.


Zagreb International Airport
The Zagreb International Airport is located 15 km outside of the city at Pleso. It is also known as Pleso Airport. It serves more than 2 million passengers a year. Zagreb has airport since the beginning of the 20th century. It is located at Pleso since 1962. It is in process of expansion.

Rijeka International Airport
The airport of Rijeka is located at Omišalj on the Krk island, 17 km away from the city. From the airport you can get a bus or a taxi to the city center.

Split International Airport
Split International Airport is the second largest in Croatia in terms of served passengers. It is located near Trogir, some 16 km outside Split. During the summer near 1 million tourists fly to Split. Because of that fact there are plans for renovating and expanding the airport. It was opened in 1966.

Dubrovnik International Airport
Dubrovnik International Airport is also known as Čilipi Airport. It is located at Čilipi, 15 km away from the city. Dubrovnik is a main tourist attraction in Croatia, so the airport is currently under reconstructuin. When done, it will have the largest terminal in the country. During the summer season, over 1 million passengers arrive at the airport.

Zadar International Airport
Zadar International Airport is located 8 km outside of the city of Zadar. Zadar is a small town famous for its medieval look. Every year around 200 000 people arrive at the Zadar airport. They use mainly charter flights during the summer season.

The airports at Pula, Osijek and Brac serve internal flights only. Croatia Airlines offers transfers to any of the croatian airports.
