Ukraine Airports

06/19/2011

There are numerous airports in Ukraine operating either in an international or domestic capacity. Most international flights to Kiev land at Boryspil International Airport, but there are several other international airports scattered throughout Ukraine. In fact, there are more than 180 paved airports in Ukraine. After arriving at one of Ukraine's airports you can take a taxi or bus into the city.

Keep all the documentation you receive from customs as these have to be presented when you leave the country again. Facilities in Ukraine's airports include: money exchange, banks, ATMs, shops, duty free stores, restaurants, bars, travel agencies, business centers and facilities for the disabled.

Boryspil International Airport, located just 29 km from Kiev, is the largest airport in Ukraine and receives most of the international flights. Other airports which serve Kiev are Zhulyany Airport (domestic) and Gostomel Airport (cargo). Zhulyany Airport in the south of Kiev is home to a fascinating aviation museum as well as an aircraft repair company. Ukraine's Odessa International Airport, built in 1961, handles domestic and international flights. It is also often used by the Ukrainian Air Force.
