U.S. Airlines Record Bests for Cancelations, Lost Luggage and On-time arrivals

01/19/2017

U.S. AIRLINES RECORD RECORD BESTS FOR CANCELATIONS AND LOST LUGGAGE

A FAMILIAR STORY?

If you have ever had the experience (and many of us have) of turning up at the airport, and finding that our flight has been canceled with little information, and no immediate prospect of getting to your destination or, if you have arrived at the end of your journey (but your baggage hasn't). You will be pleasantly surprised to know that November was a record month for low cancellation rates, and also for a low percentage of lost luggage.

BUT NOW NOT EVEN AT THE HOLIDAYS

November might be particularly surprising in this respect, because it is just the period, (including Thanksgiving) when you would expect things such as luggage to disappear into a Black Hole.
However, it was not to be so.The U.S. Department of Transportation has revealed that in November airlines reported that just 0.29% of flights were canceled, the lowest figure since records began in January 1995 and better than the previous record of 0.33% achieved in September 2016. Delta wowed the audience as none, yes none, of its flights were canceled. Also impressive were Alaskan and Frontier with 0.1%.ExpressJet Airlines had the worst cancellation rate at 0.9%, but this is still less than 1 in a 100.

AND BANG ON TIME

And not just that, the on-time arrival rate also showed improvement hitting 86.5% which itself was an improvement on one year before when it was 83.7%. We should state that these were not record figures. We believe in giving credit where credit is due at www.paylessflights.com , so we are glad to mention that Hawaiian Airlines gets the gold star with an impressive 91.5% on-time rate. The last place, unfortunately, goes to Virgin America (81.4%) with low-cost carriers ExpressJet and JetBlue occupying the next two places.

LUGGAGE ARRIVES WITH YOU

More positive news on the luggage front as well with a record low of 2.06 reports of lost luggage per 1000 passengers and the record was set as recently as October 2016.

COMPLAINTS FALL

Finally, complaints about airline service fell by 22% compared with November 2015. All in all very positive news for travelers. Get your special flight from http://www.paylessflights.com
