Baggage information

Carry-On Baggage
Carry-on baggage must be stored under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. Please be aware that available space varies from one aircraft type to another.
Boeing 737-200
Pieces Permitted: 2
Maximum Weight: 10 kg (22 lbs)
Maximum Size:  9 inches wide by 16 inches high by 20 inches long would be the maximum outside dimensions allowed.
Hawker Siddeley 748
Pieces Permitted: 2
Maximum Weight: 3.5 kg (8 lbs)
Maximum Size:  9 inches wide by 11 inches high by 15 inches long would be the maximum outside dimensions allowed.

Checked Baggage
All checked baggage must be presented at our check-in counter.
General Baggage Information
- Each checked bag must have an identification tag.
- Baggage and carry-on articles will be carried within the space and weight limitation of the aircraft.
- All baggage or goods presented for transportation are subject to inspection by our personnel.
- No articles of baggage or goods will be carried when that article is likely to endanger the aircraft, persons or property; are likely to be damaged by air carriage; or if the carriage of that article would violate any applicable law, regulation, or order.
Checked Baggage Allowances
Boeing 737-200
Pieces Permitted: 2
Maximum Weight: Total weight of 45 kg (100 lbs). No 1 piece can exceed 32 kg (70 lbs).
Excess baggage: Any checked bag in excess of 2 pieces is subject to excess baggage charges of $30.00 + taxes per piece.
Due to space and weight restrictions excess baggage is not guaranteed to travel on the same flight as the passenger travelling. Any excess baggage not travelling on the same flight as the passenger will arrive on the next flight based on space and weight availability. If you wish to guarantee excess baggage you should contact Air North Cargo
Overweight Baggage: Any checked bag weighing between 33 kg (71 lbs) and 45 kg (100 lbs) is subject to overweight baggage charges of $1.00 per pound + taxes.
Any bag weighing more than 45 kg (100 lbs) must be shipped as cargo.
Oversized Baggage: If the sum of the three dimensions (length x width x height) of any piece exceeds 76 inches that piece is subject to an oversized baggage charge of $30.00 + taxes.

Hawker Siddeley 748
Pieces Permitted: 2
Maximum Weight: Total weight of 20 kg (44 lbs).
Excess Baggage: Any checked bag weighing between 21 kg (45 lbs) and 45 kg (100 lbs) is subject to overweight baggage charges as per our current cargo tariff.
Due to space and weight restrictions excess baggage is not guaranteed to travel on the same flight as the passenger travelling. Any excess baggage not travelling on the same flight as the passenger will arrive on the next flight based on space and weight availability.

Travelling With Infants

Does my infant travel for free?
One child under the age of 2 years may travel at no additional charge provided they are accompanied by one fare paying adult (aged 12 years and over) and are seated on the adult's lap for the duration of the flight.
What are the safety procedures for travelling with an infant?
The adult must hold the infant during taxi, takeoff, landing and any time the seatbelt sign is illuminated and when instructed to do so by the flight crew.
Am I able to use a car seat in the cabin?
A cabin seat may be purchased for infants. If the infant is not restrained in a seat certified for motor vehicle or aircraft use, the adult must hold the infant during taxi, takeoff, landing, any time the seatbelt sign is illuminated and when instructed to do so by the flight crew.

Does my infant need to travel with identification?
Yes, you should bring identification for your infant in the form of a birth certificate or birth registry.

Do I receive extra baggage allowance when travelling with an infant?
You may check-in a car seat and stroller at no additional charge. A playpen may be substituted for either a car seat or stroller.
Are the onboard facilities infant or child friendly?
Air North's onboard facilities are not equipped with change tables or infant care products. We ask that all parents travelling with an infant or small child carry on all changing toiletries and infant care products needed.



Pets

If you're planning to travel with your pet on our Boeing 737-200 jet or Hawker Siddeley 748 turbo prop aircraft, and you plan to carry-on your pet or send them as cargo or checked baggage, you must contact reservations at (867) 668.2228  (867) 668.2228 ext 1 or toll free in North America 1.800.661.0407 1.800.661.0407 ext 1 prior to travel, to ensure space is reserved for your pet. If space is not reserved, we will base our acceptance on "first come, first served".

Pets into the cabin
Boeing 737-200 & Hawker Siddeley 748
- Dogs, cats, birds and ra may travel with you onboard in a secured soft shell kennel that fits under the seat in front of you. The pet  must remain within the kennel for the duration of the flight.
- Air North allows one pet per customer. Each carry-on pet must be in an approved kennel and meet carry-on baggage weight and dimensional regulations.
- Air North does not charge for your pet to travel as carry-on.
- The kennel must allow for your pet to naturally stand and turn around.
- Your pet and its kennel must not exceed set carry-on baggage limits
- Due to Transport Canada regulations, all animals in the cabin must remain within their kennels for the duration of the flight. The kennel must be under the seat in front of the guest that is transporting it. Exceptions are made for service animals.
- No special documentation is required for a pet to travel in the cabin unless travelling into the United States.


Pets travelling into or out of the United States will require:
1. Health certificate
2. Value of shipment
3. Minimum of 8 weeks old.

Pets as Checked Baggage

If space is not reserved, acceptance will be based on "first come, first served"; however, there is no guarantee your pet will be accepted for travel.
All live animals must travel in an airline certified kennel. Maximum 2 pets per kennel.
There are additional fees that are to be paid at time of check-in for all pets travelling as checked baggage.
Kennel requirements:
- The kennel must be airline transport approved.
- Be leak-proof, escape-proof and the door must fasten securely.
- Containers used for the carriage of live animals must comply with IATA Live Animals Regulations and adhere to points (1) and (2).
- Kennel door must be constructed of welded or cast metal. Plastic or top-opening doors are not allowed.
- The kennel door should be secured, but not with a locking device, which an agent cannot open in case of an emergency situation. Zip ties are recommended.
- Be large enough for the animal to stand, turn around, sit and lie comfortably in a natural manner.
- Be clean, with no offensive odors and contain absorbent material.
- The use of straw, hay or wood shavings is prohibited.
- Kennel must be free of wheels.
- Be adequately ventilated.
- Not be collapsible or foldable.
- Be marked with the words "live animal" on the top.
Attached labels with the shipper and consignee's name, street address and phone number and also the name of the pet travelling, to allow our agents to better reassure the animal if talking to him/her

Document requirements:
As checked baggage, the owner will be asked to fill out a pet declaration form at time of check-in, declaring the pet's name and owner's name, address and seat number.
Pets travelling into or out of the United States will require:
